WARRIORS EDGE PAST LASERS IN 3-2 WIN

Newton, Mass.-  The Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University came to Grellier Field today to take on the Lasers field hockey team, and edged out a win, 3-2.  It was a late goal by Liz Bolduc (Stonington, CT) that closed the game in favor of the Warriors when she scored unassisted to break a 2-2 tie, and seal the victory for Eastern.

Eastern was the first to score in today's match when Joslin Wells (Marston Mills, MA) succeeded in scoring off a penalty stroke at 16:53.  Less than four minutes later, Wells fed a pass to teammate Drew Gomes (Thomaston, CT) who upped the Warriors lead to 2-0.

Lasell stayed close with Eastern, attempting 5 shots in the first period, and allowing the Warriors only six.  Tia Pratt (S. Paris, ME) closed in on the Warriors advantage, at 29:51, when she scored the first of her unassisted goals before breaking for the half.

Pratt then tied the game in the second half with her second unassisted goal, at 48:08, but unfortunately for the Lasers the two goals were not enough.  Bolduc secured the victory just four minutes later in the 53rd minute, pulling in their third win of the season.

Lasell's goalkeeper Christine Thornton (Canton, MA) picked up five saves in today's contest, playing the total 70 minutes.

Lasell is now 5-7 overall and will play again on Grellier Field on Thursday, October 16th, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action, against Simmons College.   The Lasers and the Sharks compete at 4:00 p.m.
