BSB: Lasers Stay Hot With Route of Emerson

Nothborough, MA - The Lasell University baseball team extended their win streak to five games on Friday afternoon with a 14-6 route of the Emerson Lions. The win moves Lasell to 10-6 on the season while the Lions drop to 3-8.

Emerson got on the board first in the bottom half of the second inning plating two runs, and would add a third in the third inning to take an early 3-0 lead. After getting some traffic on the bases in the first three innings Lasell wasn't able to get the big hit they needed to push some runs across. However, that changed a lot in the fourth inning as Lasell put up a whopping 14 runs in the top half of the fourth led by Brad Edwards and Scott Lyon who hit back-to-back home runs. Senior Bryan Buamann had two doubles in the inning and junior Tim Callahan also added a double in the big inning.

Emerson tried their best to chip away at the 14-3 deficit, scoring three more runs over the next two innings, but the Lasell bullpen of Pierce Clare, Owen Caldwell, Ethan Bernardo and Matt Fletcher held them scoreless past the fifth inning to secure the Laser victory.

Justin Lowden got the start for the Lasers and secured the win, throwing four innings allowing eight hits, five runs while striking out two and walking just one.

Offensively for the Lasers, all nine starters collected at least one hit. Edwards homered and drove in four runs, Lyon also homered, Baumann doubled twice and collected two RBIs while scoring two runs himself, Ross Audet and Callahan each also doubled. Connor Freitas and Jared Whitby added two singles apiece and Chris Bulk and CJ Mills each had a single.

Up Next: The Lasers host their first GNAC matchup of the season at Libby Field in Weymouth, MA against the Mitchell Mariners at 7:00 pm.
