BSB: Lasers Bounce Back at Curry

Milton, MA - The Lasell Lasers Baseball team bounced back from some difficult losses on Tuesday, battering Curry 14-3. The Lasers are now 5-5 on the season, while the Colonels are 3-8.

The Lasers got out to a lead in the second, scoring a run on a ground out, they then doubled their lead with a sacrifice fly in the third. After the Colonels cut the lead in half, the Lasers pushed their lead to 3-1 on a GJ Mills RBI single in the fourth. After Curry tied things up in the bottom half of the inning, the Lasers offense came alive in the fifth, scoring 10 runs. The first two came on a Connor Freitas home run. The next came on a Jared Whitby RBI single. After the Lasers loaded the bases, Mills cleared them with a three RBI double. Mills then scored on a Tim Callahan RBI double. Callahan then scored on an error before Matthew Bischof hit a two run homer to put the Lasers up 13-3. Bischof the career program home run leader, homered for the first time this season, and the 13th of his career. The Lasers would add one more run in the 7th before closing out the 14-3 victory.

The Lasers collected 16 hits as a team, with Matthew Bischof leading the way with four, including his home run. Also having multiple hits was Tim Callahan, CJ Mills, Connor Freitas, Jared Whitby, and David Egan. Mills led the team with four RBI. Jeremy Blackwood led started on the mound and went 3.1 innings, and allowed five hits and three earned runs. He struck out five and walked two. He was relieved by Tim Coakley, who picked up the win by going 1.2 innings and allowing just one hit. Next out of the bullpen was Jason Giangrande, and he pitched three shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out two. The final inning was pitched by Ethan Bernardo, and he pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.

Up Next - The Lasers will start their conference play, as they play at Dean on Saturday, March 25th. They will play a doubleheader starting at 12pm.
