BSB: Lasers split conference opener in walk-off fashion

Lynn, Mass – The Lasell University Lasers baseball team split its doubleheader conference match up, 7-5 and 3-2, against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons at Fraser Field.

The highlight for the Lasers was a thrilling finish to game two with a walk off double to right field with the bases loaded that scored three by graduate student Joe Sullivan (Sandwich, Mass.).

The Lasers will be back on the diamond Monday March 29 against Trinity College at 3:30 and 6 P.M.

Game 1 - Lasell 5 Albertus Magnus 7

The Lasers got on the board first in the first inning on a fielder's choice by junior Matt Bischof (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.).

Lasell add a second to their lead in the following inning on sacrifice fly by senior Sean Doris (Lincoln, R.I.).

Albertus Magnus rallied back in the fourth inning. Sophomore Sean Jefferson (West Haven, Conn.) would get the Falcons started on a double that scored two. Fellow classmate Alex Kozlowski brought Jefferson home with a double of his own. Sophomore Caden Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) would grab and RBI on a single to center field. The Falcons scored the final two runs in their half of the inning on an error and a pass ball to give them a four-run lead.

Lasell answered back, with the bases loaded senior Harrison Silva (Lowell, Mass.) reached on an error bringing home sophomore Ross Audet (Swansea, Mass.). Two pitches later Sullivan got hit by a pitch to send junior Matt Motyka (Vernon, Conn.) home for the second run of the inning.

In the sixth inning the Lasers found another way to bring a run home when senior Justin Banks (Corona, Calif.) came home on a balk to cut the Falcons lead to one going to the seventh.

The Falcons added one more during their final at bats of the game when senior Brndon Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) doubled home a run to secure the win.

Game 2 – Lasell 3 Albertus Magnus 2

The Falcons got the game started on a homerun by senior Matt Warren (Wolcott, Conn.) in the first inning

Albertus Magnus added a second run in the second inning on a ground out to shortstop by Kozlowski pushing their lead to two.

The game would end on a walk off two RBI double by Sullivan with the final run Silva, scoring on a throwing error to clear the bases.

Sullivan led the Lasers with two RBIs and graduate student Lorenzo Davis (West Haven, Conn.) was strong on the mound going the distance while striking out six.
