BSB: Lasers fall to Falcons under the lights

Lynn, Mass. – The Lasell University Lasers baseball team fell in a tightly contested affair with the Fisher College Falcons, 9-6, at Fraser Field.

The result drops the Lasers to 1-5 while the Falcons improved to 18-3 on the season.

Lasell is set to open its conference season this Saturday with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) debut against Albertus Magnus College. The doubleheader will be played at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass., beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Fisher started out the gates hot with freshman Emmanuel Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) bringing in a run on a hit by pitch while junior Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y) drew a walk to bring home the second of the inning. Sophomore Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, Puerto Rico) hit a single to bring home the third run in the second inning. Junior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y) singled to center field to grab two RBI and fellow classmate Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) brought in a run on a sacrifice fly to end a six-run second inning by the Falcons.

Lasell would come right back in the third inning with junior Matt Bischof (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y) singling home a run and added a second on a wild pitch that brought home senior Charlie Danaher (Guilford, Conn.).

Fisher would push their lead back to six in the fourth on a single by sophomore John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.) and a double by freshman Ivanuel Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico).

Just like before the Lasers would pull one back in the top of the fifth with graduate student Joe Sullivan (Sandwich, Mass.) scoring on a wild pitch.

The Lasers would keep fighting back with senior Sean Doris (Lincoln, R.I) hitting a single through the right side to grab a couple of RBIs and senior Harrison Silva (Lowell, Mass.) bringing home one more to cut the Falcons lead to two.

In the eighth Fisher would push their lead to back to three on a single by Lucchese and that would be enough as the Lasers would not be able to get any across in the top of the ninth.

Senior Justin Banks (Corona, Calif.) had a solid day at the plate going two for three, Sullivan helped the Lasers by scoring three runs. Graduate student Jack Snyder (Shrewsbury, Mass.) pitched two innings of no-hit ball.
