BSB: Lasers split doubleheader with Suffolk

East Boston, Mass. – The Lasell University baseball team used a five-run fifth inning to win against Suffolk University 5-4 in the first of two before the Rams came back to win 3-0 in game two at East Boston Memorial Park.

The Lasers got their first win of the season moving their record to 1-2 while Suffolk played their first two games of the season giving them a record of 1-1.

The Lasers are back at it tomorrow Sunday, March 21, with another doubleheader against Suffolk University at East Boston memorial park with first pitch being at 12:00 P.M. and the second game starting at 2:30 P.M.

Game 1 – Lasell 5 Suffolk 4

Suffolk would get the scoring started in the second inning with an RBI single by junior Shane Lake (West Roxbury, Mass.).

In the third the Rams would add a second to the tally with a sacrifice fly to center field by senior Rich Gilbride (Beverly, Mass.).

Senior Harrison Silva (Lowell, Mass.) got the Lasers on the board in the fifth with a two-run homerun to left center to even the game. With the based loaded later in the inning junior Matt Bischof (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y) drew a walk to bring in a run followed by senior Justin Banks (Corona, Calif.) being hit by a pitch to bring in another. The Lasers would cap off the scoring in the inning with senior Sean Doris (Lincoln, R.I.) hitting a single to center field to bring in the fifth run of the inning.

Suffolk would grab two back in the sixth on an inside the park homerun by senior Rich Giandrea (Audubon, N.J.) but it would not be enough to defeat the Lasers.

Freshman Darek Lallo (Warwick R.I.) got his first win in his college career while junior Matt Motyka (Vernon, Conn.) picked up the save.

Game 2 – Suffolk 3 Lasell 0

The Rams opened up the scoring in the first inning with graduate student Christian Seariac (Framingham, Mass.) hitting an inside the park homerun.

Suffolk added a second run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly to center field by senior Steven Shamnoski (Pittstown, Pa.).

The Rams would score the last run of the game in their final trips to the plate with junior Gino Desimone (Medford, Mass.) homering to right center.

Although he took the loss on the mound, graduate student Lorenzo Davis (West Haven, Conn.) went the distance while striking out four.
