LYNN, Mass. – The Fisher College baseball team churned out 14 runs on 16 hits Wednesday evening for its seventh consecutive victory with a 14-7 triumph over Lasell University under the lights at Fraser Field. The win moves the Falcons to 14-2 on the season while the Lasers drop their season opener and are 0-1.

Offensively the Lasers were powered by junior Matt Motyka (Vernon, Conn.), who went 2-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI. Fellow junior Matt Bischof (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) laced a 2-run double to centerfield for the team's first runs of the season and ended his night 1-for-2 with those two RBIs. Senior Brian Cipolla (Cranston, R.I.) was the other Laser to record two hits as he finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

Lasell graduate-student starter Patrick Colvin (Lenox Dale, Mass.) was handed the loss as he allowed six runs (all earned) on seven hits in just 2.1 innings. Classmate Jack Snyder (Shrewsbury, Mass.) pitched well over his 2.2 innings on the hill despite allowing five unearned runs and sophomore Jay Giangrande (Andover, Mass.) struck out two in 1.1 innings.

Junior Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) had a career day at the plate for Fisher as the shortstop went 3-for-4 with a double, two triples, scored three runs, and knocked in six RBI on the night. His double to left-center in the second inning jumpstarted the Falcon offense and then cleared the bases with a 3 RBI triple in the sixth. Fellow junior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) also collected three hits as he finished the ballgame going 3-for-6 with two RBI. Sophomores Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, Puerto Rico) and John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.) chipped in with two RBIs each with Vega going 2-for-4 and Batista finishing 2-for-5 in the win.

Freshman Andres Meletiche (Guayanilla, Puerto Rico) improved to 3-0 on the mound as he spun six innings of work allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and striking out five. A quartet of relievers closed out the ballgame with freshman William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) recording three strikeouts in the ninth inning.

The Falcons will be back on the diamond this Sunday afternoon as they travel to Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut for a 12pm doubleheader. Lasell, meanwhile, will get set to battle Suffolk University in a four-game weekend set. The first pitch is slated for 12 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in East Boston.
