EAST BOSTON, Mass. – The Lasell College baseball dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Suffolk University Sunday afternoon, falling by scores of 10-1 and 3-1, at chilly Memorial Park in East Boston. The games were played at Suffolk's home field but Lasell batted as the home team.

Junior David Marsell (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had a solid afternoon for the Lasers, going 3-for-6 with a walk in the doubleheader and pitching a complete game in the nightcap. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out seven. Freshman Sean Doris (Lincoln, R.I.) also went 3-for-6 with a double and a walk in the twin bill.

Lasell will play its next four games on its home field at Stein Diamond at Brandeis University, beginning Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Wentworth at 7:30 p.m.

Game 1 – Suffolk 10, Lasell 1

After the Rams put up three runs in the top of the first inning, Lasell regrouped and got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second. The Lasers put runners on the corners on singles by Doris and sophomore Luke Scholand (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Doris scored on a double steal by the two Laser base runners.

Suffolk blew the game open with five runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth. The Rams finished with 11 hits, including three by Brady Chant and two apiece by Trevor Lee and Ben Isaak.

Doris and junior Andre Marchesseault (Cheshire, Conn.) had two hits each to account for four of Lasell's six hits.

Game 2 – Suffolk 3, Lasell 1

Lasell got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the third inning after loading the bases with no outs. Junior Rob Cutone (Tewksbury, Mass.) led off with a double, went to third on a single by Marsell, and Marchesseault reached on a catcher's interference to load the bases. Cutone scored on the next play when senior Dom Mascolo (Waterbury, Conn.) grounded into a double play.

Suffolk tied the score in the top of the fouth when Greg Speliotis tripled to right center and scored on an infield groundout. The Rams scored the decisive runs in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI double down the right field line by Trevor Lee and a run-scoring single down the left field line by Will Hopkins.
