Mission Statement

The primary objective of the Sports Medicine staff at Lasell University is to provide the highest quality of care to our student-athlete population. This is accomplished first through education, risk management and prevention of athletic injury. Secondly, we provide accurate clinical evaluation, diagnosis and referrals. Finally, with effective immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of injuries we ensure proper recovery and return to play. In addition, the Sports Medicine staff strives to ensure that our student-athletes are provided with proper direction and counseling in all areas of physical, emotional and mental well-being.

Our Medical Team

The Sports Medicine Services are affiliated with Newton-Wellesley Orthopedic Associates under the direction of Dr. Laurie Katz.

Staff athletic trainers are certified by the National Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers, licensed by the State of Massachusetts, and hold current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications. We are pleased to be a teaching facility. Students from the Athletic Training Education Program at Lasell University work closely with athletes and are supervised by their clinical instructors as they complete part of their professional training.
