GNAC: Milton and Richard collect Rookie of the Week honors

Newton, Mass. – Two Lasell University student-athletes received Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors.

Freshman Sabine Milton (San Mateo, Calif.) was named GNAC women's volleyball Rookie of the Week and Freshman Aly Richard (New Hartford, Conn.) grabbed the cross country women's Rookie of the week.

Milton averaged 3.82 kills, 2.45 digs and 0.73 aces per set with a .380 attack percentage in a 2-1 week for the Lasers. In Lasell's GNAC match Saturday against Elms, she posted a double-double of 17 kills and 20 digs with a .394 attack percentage. She also made 15 kills (.435), six aces and three blocks Thursday in a non-conference win over UMass Dartmouth and she tallied 10 kills (.304), two aces and two blocks in a non-conference triumph Saturday over Fisher College.

Milton currently ranks second in the GNAC in kills with 126, second in assisted blocks with 28 and first in points with 168.

Richard was the top Laser finisher and the top GNAC freshman finisher on Saturday at the Elms College Blazer Classic at Chicopee Memorial State Park. She placed seventh overall among 48 runners, completing the 6K course in 27 minutes, 27 seconds. There were six GNAC schools competing in the race (Simmons, Regis, Lasell, Elms, USJ and Dean).

Lasers women's volleyball will be back in action Tuesday, September 28, when they travel to Smith College for a 7:00 p.m. start. Cross country will compete at the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup on Saturday, October 2.
