NEWTON, Mass. – With the turn of the calendar to February just around the corner, the Lasell College spring sports teams have begun practices and are gearing up for the 2019 seasons. The game schedules have been released and are now available online on the official website for Lasell Athletics – laserpride.lasell.edu.
The Laser men's volleyball season opens its season this coming weekend, January 25-26, at the Johnson & Wales University Tip-off Tournament. The team has 29 matches scheduled in the regular season, which concludes the first week in April. The home opener at the Lasell Athletic Center is slated for Tuesday, March 5, against Pine Manor College at 6:00 p.m. The GNAC playoffs begin on Tuesday, April 9, with the championship match on tap for Saturday, April 13.
The Laser men's lacrosse squad will open up its season at home on Wednesday, February 27, against MIT (3:00 p.m.) at Grellier Field. The team will play a 15-game schedule, with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener scheduled for Saturday, March 16, at Regis College.
The Laser women's lacrosse team will play its first game on home turf at Grellier Field in Saturday, March 2, against Emerson College (12 noon). The Lasers will play 17 games in the regular season, beginning the GNAC portion of the schedule on Saturday, March 16, at Colby-Sawyer College.
The Laser baseball squad will open up its season on Saturday, March 2, against Newbury College at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. The Lasers will take a nine-game Spring Break trip to Florida, beginning on Sunday, March 10. The first home game is Tuesday March 19, against Emerson College, and the GNAC opener is Saturday, March 23, vs. Colby-Sawyer. All home games will be played at Brandeis University.
The Laser softball team will open up its season on its annual Spring Break trip to Clermont, Florida, beginning on Monday, March 11. The Lasers will play 10 games in Florida before returning to New England, with the home opener at Taylor Field slated for Saturday, March 23, vs. Rhode Island College. The first GNAC contests are slated for Saturday, April 6, at Emmanuel College.
The Lasell men's and women's track and field teams, which are currently competing in the indoor season, will open up the outdoor season on Saturday, March 23, at the Wesleyan Spring Classic at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. The squad will compete in five outdoor meets before the annual GNAC Championships on Sunday, April 28, at Regis College in nearby Weston, Mass.
