Fall Student-Athlete Try-Out and Preseason Information

Dear Prospective Fall Student-Athletes,

Preseason is quickly approaching and I want to relay some important information in advance of your arrival on campus.  The Fall Tryout Day will take place on Sunday, August 18th This is a one-day tryout/move in day for fall athletes only-- men's and women's soccer; field hockey and women's volleyball will have tryouts; cross country student-athletes will move in for preseason on August 19th.  Those who are not selected as team members will return to their homes following the tryout; new students will re-join their class at the fall "Week of Welcome" on Friday, September 6 and returning students will move back to campus on Sunday, September 8 .  Students selected as team members will move into temporary campus housing following their try-out sessions on August 18th

8:00 a.m.          Check in* for Women's Soccer—Athletic Center

8:30 a.m.          Try-out session for Women's Soccer—Taylor Field

8:30 a.m.          Check in* for Women's Volleyball and Field Hockey--Athletic Center

9:00 a.m.          Try-out session for Field Hockey--Grellier Field

9:00 a.m.          Try-out session for Women's Volleyball--Athletic Center

10:00 a.m.        Check in*  for Men's Soccer—Athletic Center

10:30 a.m.         Try-out session for Men's Soccer—Taylor Field

11:00-2:00         Lunch—Valentine Dining Hall--All family members are invited to lunch.

11:00 - 2:00        Bookstore Open

1:00 p.m.          Check in* for Cross Country—Athletic Center

1:30 p.m.          2nd session for Women's Soccer--Taylor Field

2:00 p.m.          2nd session for Field Hockey—Grellier Field       

2:30 p.m.          Cross Country team meeting--meet in Forest Hall

3:30 p.m.          2nd session for Men's Soccer--Taylor Field

*All students must check in at the Athletic Center to be cleared for participation

Preseason Housing
All student-athletes that are selected as fall team members will be housed in one temporary residence building during preseason. Students will not move into their permanent housing assignment at this time.  Please only bring the clothing, bedding, and personal items with you that you will need for pre-season at this time.  Students will move into their permanent housing assignments prior to September 6th.


Financial Obligations
You will not be permitted to participate in try-out or team activities unless all of your financial obligations have been fulfilled. You must complete all of your financial aid documentation and you must be in good standing with Student Accounts.  You will receive updates on your financial status throughout the summer.  Please contact Student Accounts at 617.243.2103 or the Office of Financial Planning at 617.243.2227 if you have any questions regarding your account. 

Please note that August 18th is a Sunday and all campus offices will be closed.  You must take care of these matters before you arrive on campus.

Medical Clearance
If you have not already done so, you must complete the Sportsware registration or Sportsware update and return your physical form to the Athletic Training Office.  A pre-participation physical is required for all first year athletes and a medical history update is required for all returning athletes.  Instructions for Sportware are available here:  http://laserpride.lasell.edu/information/athletic_training/index  You will not be able to work out with your team until you have all of this information completed.

  • Please note that a parent or guardian signature is required if you are under 18 years of age. 
  • All athletes must meet with the athletic training staff on Sunday, August 18th to be cleared for participation.
  • All athletes are required to show proof of medical insurance before participating in any physical activity.
  • First year athletes must have a completed and signed physical form from their doctor dated after March 1st, 2019. 
  • All athletes must complete the on-line concussion education program.

Completed physical forms and concussion education certificates should be faxed or mailed to 617-243-2037; or Athletic Training, Lasell College, 1844 Commonwealth Avenue; Newton, MA 02466.
