Why did you decide to attend Lasell? Lasell offered small class sizes, with a more individualized setting for learning. While still expanding, attending Lasell also allowed me to continue my passion for athletics. I was able to play multiple sports while obtaining my degree.

Current Occupation/ Job Title  16th Year, Grade 3 School Teacher, Ingalls Elementary

Tell us about your job. What do you like most about your current role? The role of an educator can at times be very complex and challenging. However, it is our students, and their want for learning that makes every day worth it and each moment of learning priceless. At Lasell, I felt like each one of my professors truly cared about me and my education. I take extreme pride in trying my best to continue to pass that same enthusiasm, passion and care on to my own students every day.

How did your experience at Lasell help prepare you for what you are doing today? At Lasell there was a sense of comradery and family. While professors, administration and coaches alike set high expectations for their student athletes, that was just the beginning. Communication between all parties was outstanding. With smaller class sizes we were never just a name or number. At Lasell professors and coaches knew names of my family members, how many points I scored the night before, and whether or not my final report was passed in!

What advice/insight do you have for Lasell alumni and current student-athletes interested in your career field? Education takes a field of teammates! I learned through my time at Lasell that all could things come with hard work, dedication and teammates to support you. A famous quote once said, “If you want to run fast, run alone. If you want to walk far, walk together.”

Looking back on your time as a Lasell student-athlete, what is one of your favorite memories? I have been spoiled rotten with amazing memories at Lasell. I would say that my single favorite memory would be having been being awarded the NAC Player of the year. Having been riddled with injuries, that award reminded me of why all of the hard work was worth it.

I must also say though that we were so lucky to have had so many team outings and adventures. From our crazy overnight trips to ME (both men’s and women’s soccer teams) to basketball and softball ventures down to Fort Meyer and Daytona beach! The memories are endless!

Have you attended Lasell Friends, Family and Alumni Weekend? If so, tell us about your experience returning to campus. I have! Although I have not been able to attend as many as I would like, Kristy Walter has done an incredible job not only expanding the athletics program at Lasell, but also continuing to promote amazing alumni gatherings. In the past there have been multiple alumni games played, bbq’s cookouts and campus outings afterwards. Again is why I say Lasell is like a family.  Twenty years later, the door is still open and the invitation warmly felt.
